The Dick "Bulldog" Barley
Memorial Scholarship

The Dick "Bulldog" Barley Scholarship is awarded annually to a qualified undergraduate member of the Delta Eta chapter at the University of California-Los Angeles, who meets the Fraternity's academic scholarship requirements, in memory of a legendary leader who devoted his time, talent and treasure to ensure the chapter's success.

In 70-plus years as an active Sigma Chi member, Brother Barley became firmly entrenched as a volunteer with the Delta Eta chapter, serving as Chapter Advisor, as a member of the House Corporation and other various local alumni committees, earning recognition from the International Fraternity as an Order of Constantine Sig and a two-time recipient of Sigma Chi's Bringham Best House Corporation Officer. Additionally, Brother Barley aided other undergraduate chapters in the region with their housing initiatives as lead trustee of the Daniel William Cooper Foundation, and was a longtime member and participant in the Los Angeles Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter.

We're proud to join his beloved wife Evelyn, daughters Karen and Kristen, his grandchildren, countless brothers and loved ones in honoring Bulldog's memory with this special academic scholarship award that will pay it forward for countless undergraduate brothers — just as he did — for many years to come.
